Fashion Trend: Denim

Denim is a love that never fades :

 

It was during the 80s types of denim that started drawing the attention of the fashion designers. New and glamorous patterns were created and were brought to limelight by popular models in commercials. Puffy pants, puffy shoulder pads, and puffy hair became a style. In the 90s; it became one of the most sought after garments. To skim the cream of the denim market, manufacturers then, came up with various innovative ideas of using denim fabric like poodle skirts, caps, handbags, etc. It was during that time the denim sales skyrocketed. Currently, the new millennium finds denim in each and every home; worldwide.
 
Denim garments came into existence during the 18th century, a time when there was abundant production of cotton. During that period, it gained importance due to its aspects of durability, and not easily torn which benefited physical laborers much. During the 19th century, the garment was popularized by Levi Strauss, a well-known name in the jean world. Denim clothing was manufactured by them for miners. The 20th century brought jeans as a fad of pop culture. Western cowboy movies portrayed people wearing blue jeans. The 50s witnessed the cloth becoming a craze of the teenage population. Manufacturers utilized the situation by coming up with innovative designs like new colors, embroidery, and patchworks. During the 60s and 70s, bell bottoms and hip hugger patterns became popular.

 

Denim as a Fashion Icon: 

From the place of normal clothing, denim has risen to be a fashion icon and is being adorned by fashion models. It has now become a symbol of modeling and modern culture. The metamorphosis of jeans from a commodity to a fashion item happened during the 90s; when jeans evaluated into a number of various other items such as jackets, shorts, skirts, etc apart from the normal pants. Earlier different models like hippie bellbottoms, and tapered legs, were popular. The current trend is all about variety and views denim as an item with bold styles to keep pace with the fast track lifestyle.

History of Jeans

In 1853, a man named Levi Strauss found himself in San Francisco trying to start a branch of his family business. He sold a cotton fabric known as denim, which was picked up by a man called Jacob W. Davis. Up until then, the idea of blue trousers that were made of denim wasn't that big a deal.

When were denim jeans invented?

Jeans are pants made from denim or dungaree cloth. They were invented by Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss in 1873 and a worn still but in a different context. Jeans are named after the city of Genoa in Italy, a place where cotton corduroy, called either jean or jeane, was manufactured.

  

  In 2000, vintage jeans came into the trend. These jeans gave a bohemian look to the people. This fashion attitude was appreciated by the juveniles of that time. The ultra low-rise jean was popularized by some pop stars like Britley spears Christina Aguilera. It was very common to wear jeans on weekends and dance parties.

In today's era, jeans (denim) are attributed to fashion. From big screen celebrities to businessmen, ordinary people to high-class society people, and school students to college students, it had been seen for years that everyone is addicted to dressing up with jeans.

 

Denim being a everyday symbol for style. In today's world, there are many types of denim that we can fill our wardrobe with. The world has evolved in the fashion industry so much that now we have denim tops, dresses, corsets, belts, skirts, jackets, shoes as well, and a never-ending list of denim wears. From NewYork fashion week to Milan fashion week you will always come across new types of designs and styling in denim fashion. This 2020 denim trend is straight and ultra-loose, but with a tapered ankle to add some shape. The overall shapelessness can be polarizing for some, but styling this trend comes down to playing with proportions! Since the bottoms are so loose, your top should be tighter to balance the look.

Denim is all about vibrant shades, designs, and patterns of clothing.  I think what makes denim the most trending from ages is its origin color blue, blue is such a soothing color and its different shades in blue, it gives peace to mind and denim gives comfort. In the end its a great mixture of both. I know you must be thinking but there are other colors too in denim wear like black, white, purple, etc well I really like its origin and that is what keeps it classy.
